Sunset over Backcountry Spring Fed Pond

Sunset over Backcountry Spring Fed Pond
Sunset over Backcountry Spring Fed Pond

This Sunset over a remote Backcountry Spring Fed Pond was a beautiful locatoin/ I was trying to line this up such that the sun would set in the center of the peaks. About 4 minutes later is was setting centered in the saddle. Those are the “Red Hills” 40 miles distant from my camera.

There is a lot of wildlife around this pond. SItting up on the edge for hours at a time with a long lens is a luxury….. Unlike my water hydrant fed tanks, this nearby lake freezes over solid in the winter. The animals normally watering there in the summer tend to migrate toward water and I get to photograph them all winter. We work hard keeping water hydrants trickling all winter for wildlife which is a win win for me and the critters. Done it for 20 years (4 watering holes).

Sunrise over Mitten Butte

Sunrise over Mitten Butte

Sunrise over Mitten Butte is a little out of season but I’m trying to get a few of my better works available on the gallery.

This is actually over state land just south of my ranch (1/2 mile). I seem to remember that it was really cold at the time. (well sub zero) All the clouds were ice and not rain droplets…..

Golden Alpenglow behind the Windmill… It was 20 below zero at th3e time…. I took this last winter down in a very remote part of northern Campbell County. This windmill has views of the Devils Tower and Missouri Buttes but those are to the right of this angle. That is ice not flowing water.

Full Moon Setting Over the “Red Hills” in the Borderlands

Full Moon Setting Over the "Red Hills" in the Borderlands

The “Red Hills” provide the foreground for the Setting full Moon just after the sun came up and was fully illuminating the Prairie Dog Hills at the closest ridge line.

The Red Hills are 40 miles out, the moon is a little further I think…
